We too are friends of God

Beloved in Christ,

The first Sunday after the Descent of the Holy Spirit is dedicated to All Saints. The holiness of a human life is the most beautiful fruit of the workings of the Holy Spirit.  The Saints are the closest friends of God because in their lives; they loved God above all.

At the same time, the Saints are close friends to us, since both they and we are members of the same Church, even though they already live in heaven. They are not indifferent to our good or our salvation. They hear our petitions and carry our prayers to God.

Encouraged by the example of their lives; we too are called to desire holiness.  We too are called to follow Christ in our daily lives.  We too, are called to fill, our normal daily lives of works and responsibilities, with the love of God. We too are friends of God.
