Christ Is Risen!

Today we remember the women bringing burial spices, the first to come to the tomb of Christ on that Sunday, become witnesses to the revelation of Christ’s Resurrection.

At sunrise they came to the tomb to compete the burial ritual, but they found no body but rather became the first to see the results of Christ’s Resurrection: the heavy stone rolled away; Christ, transfigured as a youth clothed in white, at the right side of the tomb; exemplifying His eternal seat at the right hand of the Father.

Speaking with the Risen Christ, they did not recognize Him, since they still lacked the faith that would allow them to recognize Him.

Even though Christ was no longer among the dead, but had risen, the women were still overly attached to Jesus as crucified.

As the Risen Jesus spoke to those Myrrh Bearing Women, so He speaks to us, to bring their and our focus to faith in His Divinity. Since that first Easter Sunday, His presence can be both felt and recognized by faith.

These Myrrh Bearing Women were the first to be invited to the mission of announcing the joyous news for all of humanity of the Resurrection of Christ to others.

In our words and by our life, let us too, witness to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Amen
