Glory to Jesus Christ!

The Gospel of the Second Sunday of Great Fast reveals Christ as the healer of soul and body, of the entire person.

Important is the creative initiative shown by the four unnamed friends, who, when meeting obstacles in their attempt to reach the Savior, were not confused nor did not lose hope in carrying out their work of mercy.

It seemed impossible to pass through the crowd that had gathered around the house where Jesus was. But they lowered the bed with the paralyzed man through the opened roof of the house. Jesus saw their faith, which feared no difficulties, and miraculously healed the paralyzed man.

This healing urges us to be both persistent and creative in our works of mercy.

In the Gospel we also learn of the tight bond between the spiritual, moral and physical states of a person. Authentic, complete healing of a person is found in the forgiveness of sins, for without this forgiveness, physical health is short-lived and a relative good.

Let us be both persistent and creative in our doing good. Amen
